the predictible and boring lives of people
are arranged so they can watch
their favorite television program.
not me.
I do everything during commerecials.

I asked my wife to marry me during a commercial
and waited six years for the commercial to appear again
to ask for a divorce
there was a sense of balance doing that.

I try to make sense of my life
during commercials
so I don’t dwell on the past
I am not doing well.

I only allow myself moments of sadness during commercials
so I have the illusion of happiness most of the time.
have sex during long commercials.
i am sensitive that way
I make long distance phone calls during short commercials
to keep charges low.

and pay bills once a month during commercials to avoid creditors
and only read USA TODAY.

I am writing this poem during a commercial
if you don’t like it
for God’s sake don’t blame me
the working conditions are just horrible
with such a tight deadline.
